This 4 storey student residence accommodates 342 students. The ground floor includes a mix of residence rooms, meeting/seminar rooms, 5000 square foot wellness centre and other common support spaces. Two study rooms and a lounge/TV room are provided on each typical floor. This residence building is sited to strongly define the north edge of the campus, and to define a major traffic entrance into the campus. The building massing along Fennell Avenue (a major through street), is in keeping with the linear character of existing campus architecture. A courtyard is created on the south, facing into the campus and giving identity to the entrance area of the building where special support functions are also located. The building is highly modular in concept to achieve both cost and operational efficiencies. The typical unit is based on a two bedroom suite with a shared kitchen and bathroom. The building allows for the future addition of 156 bedrooms. Circulation within the building has been kept clear and simple, with natural light introduced wherever possible. This residence provides students with a rich social and academic environment.
