Campus Living Centres has, over
the past 18 years, pioneered a number of innovative, cost-effective
solutions for the design of student residence and conference facilities.
During this time, CLC has evolved a model and management system with
input from students, faculty, event planners, staff and hotel
professionals. Using our own experience, as well as data and conclusions
from numerous surveys, the following criteria has been identified as
important to students:
|
|
- Privacy
- A space for both a small and/or medium get together (social and/or group study)
- Restrictions on room size and housing/food policies
- Control over heating, ventilating and air-conditioning
- Easy access to phone/data system
The result of this evolution is a model
similar in many ways to an 'all suite' hotel, or a small apartment -
including 2 private bedrooms with double beds, a bathroom, and a kitchenette with full size refrigerator. Units feature individual heating and
air-conditioning controls, and a design that renders noise between
suites negligible. Combined with a system of management that stresses
security and customer (including student) satisfaction, this model has
consistently resulted in significantly lower maintenance costs,
significantly higher student demand, and an overall increase in
year-round revenues. The design, with its upscale amenities, also lends
itself perfectly to the ever-growing summer seminar and conference
business.
